Welcome to the Northeast Sunfish News Blog. We are starting this blog as an unofficial clearinghouse for news updates, schedules and race results around the Northeast US. We have pages where you can submit Race Notices, Sailing Instructions, results and other items, right here on the web site.
We have reactivated the blog devoted to Northeast Sunfish racing and news. It is located at http://nesunfishnews.blogspot.com/. We will be posting news, notices and events on a (more or less) weekly schedule, or more frequently as we get newsworthy items. There are places on the blog to submit new events or to submit race reports from completed events, and we will publish information from those submissions on the blog. blog for all to see. It is a good way to publicise your event or to just get the word out. To make a submission, just click on one of the links at the top of the blog, just under the banner photo.
Now that the epic winter of 2015 is finally over, we can turn our minds to racing. First Class Events: The North American Masters Championships are going to be held at the Massapoag Yacht Club from July 31-August 2, 2015 at the Massapoag Yacht Club. We all know Massapoag from their annual small boat and multi fleet regattas. We are working with Sail Salem on a bid to host the 2016 North American Championships. We're aiming to bring the N.A.s back to the Northeast for the first time in five years. Sail Salem is hosting a 400 boat Opti championship this year, so after that, the Sunfish NAs should be a piece of cake for them. I'll keep everyone posted as things progress.
Now to our local Racing: First up is the Connecticut River Distance Race on May 9. It is a 10 mile multi class race down the Connecticut River. It looks to be a lot of fun. The week after is the Bolton Lake Regatta on May 17, followed by the 8th Annual Massapoag Small Boat Regatta. Both of these regattas should be excellent tune ups for the 2015 NAs, which are being held on a lake.
The rest of the Northeast regatta schedule is shaping up like this:

| 5/9/2015 | Connecticut River Distance Race |
| 5/17/2015 | Bolton Lake Regatta |

Of course several yacht clubs are staging regular Sunfish racing as well. If you like lake racing, the Massapoag Yacht Club in Sharon, MA is running their Saturday Sunfish Series every Saturday at 2:00 from June 6 through October. Racing is free and open to all comers. For ocean racers, The Edgewood Sailing School in Cranston, Rhode Island runs Sunfish racing on Wednesday evenings. Entry fee is $5 per week, and the Angelica Yacht Club in Mattapoisset, MA runs Sunfish racing on Sundays starting on June 30, running through Labor Day. You have to be a member to sail at Angelica, but the fee is only $40 for the entire season, well worth the price of admission.
